1. I have a Kona Africabike 3 and could not find panniers that fit. Regular bikes have a rack that is much narrower and the tubing is much smaller than the Africabike. I saw these on Amazon and bought them for several reasons. 1. The baskets were separate – not attached to each other. 2. They fold up and look like the front basket on the Africabike. The clamps that came with them were useless but I used plumbing clamps to attach them. Really sturdy. The two things I think need improvement are the way the basket opens and closes – great way to pinch fingers and the latch isn’t the greatest. Hit a bump and the baskets would open up. I used some velcro cord minders and that works great.

2. + they hold a lot of weight without complaint.

   - the clasp frequently fails to keep the baskets locked down. i had to bend them a little to keep them secure. of course, now i have to wrestle with it to open them up. a swing or keyturn clasp or snap would have been a better design.

3. These baskets, once connected, are $30/pr. and really do work for groceries. I LOVE them! Nice price and they do fold up small.

   Enclosed connectors to my luggage rack are terrible. Typical for companies that don’t fully complete the design. I forgive them, as I am a hands-on, able to easily figure out the right connection. (Co. contact me with design request!) The clamps provided stink, to put it mildly. The store that sold them to me was not helpful enough as with many bicycle salesmen.

   But I have them installed beautifully and they’re very useful. Fit a couple crocery bags and off we go. Love them! And with my system they will hold 50 lbs each yet come off in 10 seconds for a lighter bicycle carry up and down the stairs.

4. I received these baskets about a month ago. While they are a nice black color, there is a reason they are cheaper than the other baskets on this site: they are cheap. The metal hinges have the consistence of tough aluminum foil and everything other reviewers have mentioned regarding the problems of attaching and securing the baskets is all true. During a recent commute, the bottom of one basket pulled open due to the bad welding job and I almost lost a laptop. Stay away. Pay a little more for better quality.

5. I purchased 2 Rear Folding Bicycle Baskets and Installed them on my XR200 Mongoose Mountain Bike. They have plenty of storage, when you need it but easily fold up while not in use. I really like them. I’m glad that I purchased this item at Amazon.
