How much sleep does a bicycle commuter need?
I bought a bike a few weeks ago and I commute to office daily for 30 mins (10 kms) one way. Nowadays, I tend to sleep for 10 hours (usually 8 hrs). Is that a consequence of bike commuting? If not, can I do something to reduce the sleep hours?
Or, is it just that I am lazy?

I’m amazed you went from 8 to 10 hrs. Normally an hour of mild exercise a day shouldn’t tire you so. Possibly at 1st you could be tired if you were completely out of condition but this would pass. Getting up earlier would add to this but would pass as well.
If you just started, give it a few weeks. Maybe have some blood work done by your doctor if you don’t seem to get accustom to it..
There is no hard and fast rule about the need for sleep. Everyone is different.
I sleep for 6 hours and commute 100 mile a week.
I find 8 hours too much actually.

an alarm clock
Seriously, just stretch before and after your ride and drink plenty of water and your body will soon adjust.
you should try out uberman sleep schedule aka polyphasic sleeping. it is not dangerous and it is a very unique experience, staying awake for long periods of time, but maximizing efficiency of sleep through the use of multiple naps throughout the day.
