Should I buy hybrid bike or commuter?
I need a new bicycle but, I can't decide between a Hybrid style or a commuter style. I like to go fast but, I also need comfort and durability. Any ideas?

It’s mainly marketing / terminology differences. Focus on the specifics that you do or don’t want:
– overall fit and your position on the bike – the #1 determining factor in how fast you go.
– type of wheels – commuters will tend to have more spokes and heavier duty wheels, where a hybrid might have fewer spokes. Difference shows up in overall weight and in handling / acceleration.
– rack and fenders (or mounting points for them)
– frame / brake clearance for big ires + fenders
– suspension or not (front / rear / seatpost)
– handlebar type – flat / drop / cruiser etc
– drivetrain – gearing, # of cogs front/rear
Simple fact is, almost any decent bike shop bike can be set up to go fast or to be a commuter; the question is which usage will be most common / valuable to you?
Good luck

just go with one from walmart, cheap, have suspension and nice seats. it’ll do what you need to do.
Speed is more important than comfort, get a lightwiegt road bike
ROAD VS. HYBRID.
ROAD- FASTER, MORE GEARS, MORE AERODYNAMIC, LIGHT WEIGHT, NARROW SEAT, THIN TIRES
HYBRID- VERSITLE TIRES, LESS GEARS, FRIENDLIER BRAKES, COMFORT SEAT, WEIGHS MORE
GOOD LUCK
get thee to your local bike shop and check them out… decide for yourself which style will be more comfortable for the type of riding you will do…
Get a hybrid with out all that stupid low end suspension. Get a nice alloy frame a nice carbon post and carbon fork.
Gear it high and jam!
Trek has a nice line of "speed hybrids"
As well as Marins are not to bad!
Plus the Treks have many rack options.
Get a touring bike-built to ride long distances fast on the road.
