Best way to carry a laptop on a folding bike?

Some say the only safe method is by back pack. Is it safe to carry a laptop in a bicycle bag (pannier)?

  1. I’m for a backpack as well. I don’t need to mess with a rack and keeps all my things in the same bag. The main drawback is getting a sweaty back during summer.

Although panniers are ok as long as its sturdy enough and installed properly. The shocks from road riding would not be an issue unless you downhill a mountain trail.

I’ve tried messenger bags but I feel they are more suited to shorter trips. The weight distribution of a backpack is much more balanced and more suitable for longer trips.

  2. The safest way is on a back pack, your body will absorb most of the road shocks much better then panniers. Panniers get stolen so you have to take them with anyway.

  3. backpack
    messenger bags are unbalanced
panniers are – well you have to take them off anyway
    wle.

  4. smooth surfaced road=pannier, rough srface, bag on back or shoulder.
