They sell them.
Sorry about your bike, that really sucks. If / when you get a new bike, check with the police department in your town: in some towns you can register your bike with them, so that they know who to call if it ever turns up.
They use them to ride or to make money.
possibly dismantle and sell off the parts…
Ebay
Pawn shop
give it to their children
Thats tuff luck. Scabby bike thieves…grrrrr
You could check your local skate bowl. If your ride is personalised, you can easily identify your stuff on someone elses ride.
A bike is a bike to most police. It helps if you can describe the smallest parts onthem too.
And if you see anyone riding your bike, you can just go up to them and take it. They are the ones who have to explain to the police why they are on a stolen bike, even if they bought it not knowing it was hot.
Not much consolation but I knew some guys who used to catch the train to other towns to steal bikes. The police are just not interested in pursuing such small things.
Thousands are stolen every year and sent to third world countrys to be sold, particularly the carribean.
High end bikes are probably sold on the street or to friends, relatives etc.
Advice- register the bike with the local constabulary, write in permanent ink on a piece of good paper IT’S STOLEN! and your name and phone # and put it inside the bottom bracket, what the heck, you never know.
