How to get better performance from a schwinn electric scooter?

I have a Schwinn s-400 thta I bought yesterday. I charged it overnight and rode it today. With a full charge, I was only able to get about a mile and a half bfore it needed to be walked or pushed. Is there any way to increase battery life that will nopt harm the unit?

  1. You may have gotten an older set of batteries.

    These are Sealed Lead Acid, SLA, batteries. If they sat in the box on the shelf at less than full charge very long, that is bad. They have lost some capacity, Take the unit back and get new batteries.

    Next, go slower, faster speeds take lots more battery life, so try slowing down just a bit.

    Mellow acceleration, and help by kicking up the hills. Good tire inflation and make sure the brake is not dragging.

    Other than modifications, that is about it.
